The prices are actually reasonable as we have carefully selected some of the best value budget hotels, and combined these with a small selection of the best value tours to let you get the most from your trips. These tours rely on using public transport (not included) which is cheap and reliable.

Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero is one of the places in Costa Rica that is only accessible by boat or plane, there are many ways to visit the beautiful National Park and we want to offer a cheaper and easy option to get there.

The main attraction in Tortuguero are the turtles, which lay their eggs along the beach From April to May the leatherback turtles  come ashore, and  from July to October the green turtles take their turn. Tours to watch the turtles nesting leave in the evening from 18:00 to 20:00. You must be accompanied by a local guide to see the turtles.

There are also guided boat tours  to the canals and the surrounding lodges which leave very early in the morning to see the wildlife and jungle. Most of the tour operators use large boats with big motors and cannot get very far into the canals. The best option is a canoe tour. In your canoe you can go where the motorboats can't, allowing you to get away from the seemingly countless motorboat tours and see more of nature.

This area is not safe for swimming due to rough surf, strong currents, and sharks.

Tortuguero 2 Days – 1 Night

Itinerary

Day 1: San Jose - Cariari

At 9:00 take the public bus to Cariari, which is located in The Gran Caribe bus terminal, is also referred to as “Caribeños, when you get to Cariari around 11:00, take another public bus to Casas Verdes, that bus leave at 12:00 and arrive in La Geest around 13:30, after that, take the boat to Tortuguero National Park, it take around one and half hour; afternoon of leisure.

From 18:00 to 20:00 -  Nesting Tour.

Local Cabin overnight stay

Day 2: Tortuguero

At 7:00 start the Canoe Tour.

11:00 Departure time to La Geest (Add $15.00 to take the boat to Moin of Limon and continue to Cahuita, Puerto Viejo or Manzanillo. Add $30.00 and take the boat and land transportation to Arenal Area), at 13:30 take the public bus to Cariari.

Is the Amazon of Costa Rica, located in the pacific coast in Peninsula de Osa. There are like 500 species of trees in the whole park, which is equivalent to the quarter of all the tree species in Costa Rica. The tropical rain forests protected in this area, not only constitute the best ecosystem in the pacific, but the last of them in Central America.
